Net Book Positives Negatives
This year we got the privilege of owning a net book.It is cool having a net book.But there are some negatives.
One positive is typing because we don't need to write.Plus,we don't need to use a rubber to erase mistakes,instead we can press back space.
Another positive is the Internet.If we need to research or search for things we can type it up on google or some other browser.
I think one negative is not improving your handwriting.Using your net book to much can wreck your hand writing.
Another negative is misusing your net book.Some children go on things that they shouldn't go on.

BILLBOARD
Last week we had to research a party that was running in the elections.I chose National.We did this for our extension assignment. After that we had the task of coming up with our own pretend party. We also had to come up with a saying.
My saying is better day, better life, better future. I chose this because I think that it is true. If you have a better day each day you'll have a better life and if you have a better life. I'm sure you'll have a better future!

Stardome
On Thursday we went to the Star dome at One Tree Hill.It was for our last trip.As soon as we got to One Tree Hill we had our morning tee.Then we walked about 2 kilometres to the top of the mountain.“I'm exhausted I wish we didn't have to walk all the way to the top” I said.
Finally reaching the top I thought it was worth the exhaustion.I got to see a amazing view of Auckland.
We had to walk back down to the bottom of the mountain.But on the way down we got to play in the crater for a while.I played with the big volcanic rocks.
After that we went and had lunch.Then we went and played on the park.But I didn’t play on anything because I was eating.
About five minutes later we went into the Star dome.First we went and watched a movie about all the planets like how close they are from the sun.Then we went and watched a short clip in the space room.
After that we went and looked around.I saw a big telescope.There also was a mirror that made you look bigger.Later we went outside and waited for the bus.
Later we went outside and waited for the bus.At the end of the day I was exhausted and happy.I thought that it was really fun watching the movie at the Star dome and playing with the rocks in the crater.

Immersion Assembly
For our first day back at school,we had an immersion assembly.We do this every term on the first day so we can be informed about what our topic is. All the teachers are put into groups and perform an act for us.
Excitedly staring around the hall, I saw all the teachers dressed in weird costumes.They had things like wigs, masks, tutus and pompoms. I’m sure, like me, you are confused about what the term topic is,but keep reading and see if you can guess.
My favourite act was team 5’s. It was really cool because they showed some of the scenes from the movie, Star Wars. But amazingly it wasn't the normal actors faces, it was the teachers faces instead.
The other act that I liked was team 2’s.They did a rap called Space Rap.Dressed all in black with boxes on their heads, the teachers in team 2 were dancing like robots. “They don't look like robots” I thought to myself.

Saving Valentina
While out in the sea of Cortez.Whale researcher, Michael Fishbach, and his family encountered a rare opportunity.The chance to save the life of a young humpback whale on the brink of death.
Approaching the whale there were no signs of life. After several minutes of floating alongside it, the whale forcefully exhaled.
The humpback whale was struggling to breath and swim. Michael saw that it was tangled in a gill net.
Grabbing the net...his family went and tried to cut one of the pectoral fins free.Eventually they did. About half an hour later they got the second pectoral fin free as well.
Once they cut the whale free it swam away and put on a magnificent show. They could tell it was very happy! The humpback did about 40 breaches, it also did tail slaps.
I think that the whale was really lucky that Michael and his family were there.It would have died if they didn't help.

Liver
The Liver is the biggest organ in your body.It has over 500 jobs and is part of the Digestive system.One of its jobs is to warm the blood.It is a very important job since we are warm blooded.
It is on the right hand side of your body,near your stomach.It is approximately the size of a little melon.
Your Liver breaks down food,drugs,chemicals and Poison's.It stores vitamins,minerals and food.The Liver also stores fat.
If there is to much fat in the food the liver wont break it down so you will put on weight.You shouldn't eat to much fatty foods.

Cross Country
My heart was pounding as I sprinted as fast as I could. Gasping for breath it felt like my lungs were screaming.It was the school cross country.This year it was harder because it was way longer and we had to run a bush walk.I could feel the bushes scratch me as I ran past them.
Half way through the race, I knew someone was near by. My friend was close enough for me to catch up...So I sprinted and finally past him.
Passing the bridge the path was getting more and more narrow.There were lots of trees and bushes.A polluted creek was close to the path as well.
I was getting closer to the end of the first path which ended at Tamaki collage. The second path started there as well, leading back to school.
Getting closer and closer to the finish, I was also getting more exhausted and drained than ever before. Excitedly and joyfully passing the finish line I fell to the ground.

Motat
A few days ago we went to Motat .Before we got on the bus we went to the hall and got in our groups.walking out to the bus I felt so exited!Off we went to travel all the way to Motat,”Motat here we come” we all shouted.
Once we got there we hoped out of the bus and walked to the gate were we met a lady named Stacy,who was our educator.She took us to one of the classrooms and we ate our morning tea.
Our first activity was the tactile dome.We had to feel around for walls and ways to get out of the pitch black dome.As people went we could hear them through the microphone.
After that we split up into our groups and my group headed to the game room.There were games like PAC man street fighter and of course racing games.
A while later we went back to the class room and had lunch with everyone.Then we were given a map of were to go.The first on the map was the tram barn and the whisper dishes.So that is were we headed off to.
As soon as we finished that we rushed over to the mirror maze were another group was coming through.One of our group members ran into a mirror. As soon as that happened he fell to the ground and was very dizzy so he shouted out “Anthony”.
Before we had our last activity we went with Stacy to a different class room and learnt about kiwi and other country's inventions.There were things like phones,type-writers,cameras and Stacy even told us about some inventions that were invented by accident like the tea bag.
For our last activity we ran straight back to the game room and played for hours.We had competitions on the racing games.It was very challenging for everyone but I felt confident.
At the end of the day we met back to the classroom.Finally we walked back to the bus and went to school.We all felt exhausted and drained,that was a long day.

Stanley Steamer
American brothers Francis and Freelan Stanley,went to a local fair in 1897.There they witnessed a french inventor deminstrate his Steam car.That spured the two twins to invent their own Steam car which became the best known and best sold car from 1896 to 1924.It was called the Stanley Steamer.Between 1899 and 1905 the Stanley Steamer out sold the gasoleen powered cars.Later on they invented a steam racing car that broke the land record,it could reach up to speeds of 204 km/h.
The Stanley Steamer ran on simple,freely available fuel and all you needed to start it was a match.The engine didn't have to many moving parts in it.It also produced little exhaust.
However it took 25 minutes to build up enough steam to get going,It needed to be refilled often with fresh water.People spread a rumor that the Stanley Steamer would explode and kill the driver,that is why the Stanley Steamer went out of production.

There once was a man named Archimedes,he was a mathematician.He also was known as the wise one and some others called him the master.
He was born in Syracuse Sisely in 287 BC.He probably got his interest from his dad Phidias who was an astronomer.Archimedes often forgot to eat because he was so consumed by his inventions.
One of his inventions was called the claw.It was made out of a pulley system,two poles and a hook.It was designed to attack any roman or other attacking ships. It would grip hold of ships and lift them up then sink them.
Roman people sent a soldier to find Archimedes.once he was found he was killed.That ended the life of a great mathematician.

Swimming
“Swimming”I said to my self!I wonder what we are going to do.
On entering the pool a shock of cold sent shivers up my spine.With a powerful kick I pushed off the wall.Submerged under the water I glided gracefully.swallowing a big gulp of water I quickly swam to the surface and took a big breath,then I started kicking.
Determined to reach the end I could still hear my friends cheering.Nearing the end I took my last breath.Struggling to hop out of the pool I was exhausted and drained.On my knees barely moving, I was coughing and spluttering.
Feeling sick I said to myself “I finished”!Changed into my uniform I felt deliciously warm.When we got back to school lunch time was almost over.

Immersion Assembly
Wow I wonder why Ms Burn is dressed like that" I said to myself! Ms Burn and the rest of the teachers in team 3 were dressed in wacky hear wigs and mad scientist clothes. We were in the hall for immersion assembly.Immersion assembly's are always at the start of each term,these assembly's are for the students to learn there topic for each term.Teachers preform an act that relates to our topic.
As soon as the teachers in team 3 walked on stage an enormous beaker appeared,the teachers started tossing a variety of ingredients into the beaker. A massive bar of soap miraculously appeared.It was Ms Walters.She had a pink wig on that looked like bubbles and she had pink tight jeans on.
Suddenly all the teachers got changed and Ms Lavakula started rapping.The rest of the teachers sang.Then they came of the stage and started squirting everyone with water.All the teachers were great although team 3 was my favourite.

Snake Attack
You would never want to be bitten by a poisonous snake,it can be deadly because they have two teeth that we call fangs that connect to 2 sacs on each side of the snake’s upper jaw.These sacs contain venom. If you ever see a poisonous snake be careful or stay away from it.
When snakes inject venom into you it runs through there venom sacs and down their fangs.Snakes fangs are not solid,but they are hollow and can easily puncture your skin.

Hydro slide
Walking up the steep steps I could hear echoing voices and every body cheering with excitement.I was anxiously waiting for my turn hoping it would be soon because I was so cold.I was very close to having my turn so I started jumping up and down. Finally I had my turn, I was going down the slide like the wind.It was pitch black and I could still hear everyone cheering.Suddenly there was light so I could tell I was near the end of the slide,so I put my legs up and my arms near my face.It was really fun going down the slide because all the water was splashing on me at every turn in the slide and because it was really fast.

Rauf Roller blading
Filled with excitement I quickly went on the rink and started roller blading with my friends. Suddenly I lost balance so I quickly clung on to my friend,but I fell down bringing my friend down with me. It was really funny but painful for my friend and me.
When the man said that there was going to be a limbo challenge I was very excited so I lined up for my turn, hoping I would win the competition again like last year.The bar got lower and lower as our turns went, there were eliminations as well.I made it into the final and I was really nervous. Some of my friends were in the final and I was last to have my turn so it gave me a big advantage. My friend's didn't make it so if I made it I would win. My heart was beating fast and sweet was coming down my face like a waterfall.I quickly went and had my turn. I just made it! That made my winning streak 2 years in a row.

Picnic
School picnic my favourite time of year!A school picnic is a annual event for Pt.England school which means it happens once a year. The whole school goes to the Pt.England reserve for a fun day,filled with fun activities.One of the activities that I really enjoy is the sack races. I versed my friend in a race for a few minutes and I kept falling over because I was trying to hop too fast so I could be victorious.
Suddenly I heard the music play so I ran and got my friend Rocky and he started a dance battle with some of the girls from my class. It was really funny because Rocky was doing some moves that I had never seen before and the girls were acting like sprinklers.Of course I can’t dance but I tried, it wasn't good. My friend Rocky didn’t even care about what move he was doing so he started krumping. I tried not to laugh but I didn't make good success.
I was sad that the end of the day had already come but I had lots of fun apart from that,It was a really awesome day at the Pt.England reserve.

Camp
It was a great start to our year 5/6 camp and a good ending to the year 7/8 camp.Today we went to swimmer rummer pools,it was very fun because we got to enjoy swimming sports and we were allowed to go on a cool hydro slide. The best time of the day for me was when I got to swim with my friends and talk with them for a while.I really enjoyed it and I cant wait until we do more things at camp.

My Holiday
Diving into a lake I found out it was too deep for me to swim in so I quickly jumped on my board and paddled back. I was at the sand dunes.
After that I hopped out of the water, ran up a hill and then I ate.
Slowly walking back to the lake I saw a bridge that had some people bombing and flipping off. Later on I asked my Mum if I could go play on the bridge too. She said, "You can go soon", so I went and played with my brothers and sister in the water. Finally I got to run to the bridge and jump off it.
After a fun day at the sand dunes we packed up and walked to our car. I had lots of fun jumping off the bridge and diving into the water too.
